ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT CHILDBIRTH AND HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE
A birth doula is a professional experienced in childbirth who recognizes childbirth as a key life experience and can guide women toward empowering birthing experiences. Rooted in ancient traditions, doulas work independently in home or hospital settings, offering personalized care to strengthen and empower birthing families.
Doulas and midwives are very similar: we work with pregnant women and their families and attend home and hospital births. We both believe the human body is designed to give birth and that it is perfectly made to do so. However, doulas do not offer medical advice or provide medical examinations. Midwives do not usually provide face-to-face support during early labour—they check on you in early labour and assess your progress. Often, a midwife only stays with you once you are in active labour and for the baby’s arrival. If you desire support and comfort, a doula will take care of all the preparation and stay with you throughout your labour and birth experience.
Research by Drs. Marshall Klaus, John Kennell, and Phyllis Klaus, renowned experts in childbirth and newborns, show that working with a doula may result in:
If you want to meet and see if we’re a good fit, click the “Contact” button at the top of this page and send me a Whatsapp message. Then, we can arrange a free consultation during which you can ask all your questions. If you decide you want my help, I’ll send a questionnaire about you and your needs. Once I receive your answers, I’ll send a personalized offer. If everything sounds good, we can start working together.
I work with all types of women: planning a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), having conceived through IVF, having experienced a disappointing or traumatic birth, solo-moms, expecting a medicated birth, whether you want to give birth at home or hospital. The best way to learn if we’re a good match is to have a free meet-and-greet consultation.
Whilst you are doing what you need to do, I will be in the background making sure you have all you need, holding your hand, massaging you, supporting your partner and making sure your decisions are respected.
I can teach you self-relaxation methods, including breathing techniques, mindfulness, birth hypnosis, and massage and aromatherapy, to make your labor more comfortable. I can also provide information on birth physiology, interventions, and pain relief so that you can make the right choice for you and your baby.
Not at all! A doula’s role is to help the mother navigate the birth she desires. Doulas also can help clients adjust when their birth plans change. We prepare for all possibilities together.
Correct, but birth can be a mysterious force of nature. My prenatal sessions provide an opportunity to address any of your fears about birth, learn comfort measures to handle pain, understand medical interventions, connect with your birth partner, and more. Our modern maternity care system has outdated practices and hidden risks. Being informed matters, and having a doula by your side can make a big difference.
As an expectant mother, I would attend a doula’s childbirth course, even for a hospital birth, to gain strength and faith in the process. A doula, perinatal consultant, or holistic childbirth guide will be your constant support, confidant, and partner through it all—a true treasure wherever you give birth.
Unfortunately, social security nor insurance covers doula services in Spain. I keep my pricing fair to allow as many moms as possible to afford a doula. Payment plans are available, and if finances are an issue, please feel free to discuss options with me.
